STARTTS Community Services – Human Rights Webinar Series
Genocide Convention webinar 2 brochure
The Diplomacy Training Program (DTP), based at the UNSW School of Law, is partnering with STARTTS to deliver a series of webinars on human rights and international law in particular mechanisms for holding UN member countries accountable. The aim of the webinar series is to build knowledge and advocacy skills. Although the focus of the webinar is building the capacity of recently arrived refugee and migrant communities, the webinars are open to the public and can be very informative. The first webinar in the series was delivered in October last year – explaining genocide from the international law perspective and discussing case studies including Myanmar and Palestine. Here is the link to that webinar https://dtp.org.au/training/understanding-genocide-and-the-genocide-convention-historical-context-and-international-law/. I encourage you to watch that video and download the supporting pdf presentation.
The next webinar in the series takes place next week on Wednesday 5 March 2025. That webinar will hear stories from genocide survivors about their experience individually and as community and what resilience, recovery and hope means in those contexts. Two guest speakers from Australia’s First Nations and Rohingya community will share their experience. For more information, please find attached flyer. To register for the webinar please click on the following link https://dtp.org.au/training/genocide-survivors-stories/. This webinar is open to the public. So, please share widely.
