The Multicultural Network Inc. (TMN) was established in 1984 as Bankstown Area Multicultural Network by a number of residents and community workers who recognised the need for a forum where issues affecting residents of non-English speaking background in the Bankstown area could be raised and addressed. Over time the organisation grew to support all residents, in particular those with special needs and/or experiencing socio-economic disadvantage.

Today, having been in operation for more than 25 years, the Multicultural Network is considered as one of the leading multicultural advocacy associations in NSW. This reputation has been earned through unrelenting commitment from the organisation to ensure access and equity for multicultural communities. This has been achieved through conducting research, programs, education, grass-roots campaigns, advocacy, presenting to services and government and taking a leading role in the facilitation of effective service provision across the community care sector; all with the goal of making a difference to the lives of those from culturally and linguistically diverse and indigenous communities.
