  • Attached and in links below is the information and materials we invite you to use to support Dementia Action Week through your networks, activity and news channels.

You will find our campaign posters and social media graphics, including a new tip each day for the coming week at https://discrimination.dementia.org.au/action-week/spread-the-word/.

We ask that you follow the 7 Day Tips plan to help people living with dementia live well and not share them all at once.

Our key messages for the campaign:

    • Dementia affects close to half a million Australians. That number is set to double in the next 25 years.  Dementia is the chronic disease of the 21st century.
    • A little support makes a lot of difference.
    • A Dementia Australia survey found that three out of four people who live with dementia say people don’t keep in touch like they used to, while 65 per cent say people they know have been avoiding or excluding them.
    • The survey findings, released at the start of Dementia Action Week 2020, reveal just how big an issue discrimination and its impacts have on people living with dementia, their families and carers.
    •  An estimated 70 per cent of people who live with dementia, live in the community. It is our role as a community to do the best we can to support people living with dementia to live well for as long as possible.

Attached is an infographic summarising some of the key findings of the Dementia and Discrimination Survey. This document is under embargo until 12.01am Monday 21 September. This will be included in our launch media release also under embargo which will be online tomorrow at https://www.dementia.org.au/about-us/media-centre/media-releases

Throughout this period it would be great if you could look out for our social media activity on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram to like, share or comment. And please tag @DementiaAus on Twitter, Dementia Australia on Facebook and LinkedIn and @Dementia_Australia on Instagram.
