As you may know, we are working on our CALD Project within the South West Sydney region in order to gather information about how organisations like Wellways can further support Arabic speaking communities with their mental health, disability and carer recovery journeys.
I am reaching out to you to Invite you to our upcoming Co-Design Sessions during the month of July and August.
This is open to any staff who work across mental health and disability sector including those who do not identify as Arabic speaking.
Over the last 8 months our CALD Project Team have reached over 7,000 Arabic speakers across South West Sydney and obtained over 250 feedback forms from the community. We have provided over 47 forms of outreach providing education around mental health literacy and available Wellways services. We are hoping to utilize the experience and knowledge you have gained during your time working with the Arabic speaking community to contribute to the development of Wellways’ training resource, which will allow us to provide more culturally appropriate services across South West Sydney. Co-production participants will be honoured as outstanding contributors within the resulting training module.
We would like to gather your feedback on the following topics:
- Session 1: How should organisations structure their service provision to be culturally accommodating?
- Session 2: How do we build partnerships with Arabic speaking organisations?
- Session 3: What are some key considerations when attempting to increase exposure within the Arabic speaking community?
- Session 4: How do we contribute to increasing mental health literacy within the Arabic speaking community?
The Co-Design Sessions will be delivered online via Zoom and will be an hour and a half in duration. This will be conducted in two streams in order to provide flexibility as per your capacity:
Monday Stream – 10am – 11:30am

Session 3: Monday 2nd August
Session 4: Monday 9th August
Friday Stream – 10am – 11:30am
Session 1: Friday 23rd July
